Human Movement Control
"What is Normal Movement?"

The learning outcomes will be achieved through a formal lecture, practical workshops/sessions, a patient demonstration and discussion. Some post-course reading material will be identified.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, the participant will have:

• Developed an awareness of the significance of movement analysis within the Bobath Concept and its use as a basic for the development of treatment techniques.
• An understanding of the basic components required for the development of postural control in respect of both orientation and stability.
• Developed an awareness of the factors that can influence efficient movement.
• Through practical workshops, an opportunity to use a problem solving approach to study:
• the analysis of a postural set
• the efficiency of balance
• the requirements for a key point of control
• the interaction between key points of control in movement
• the analysis of movement between postures
• the application of sensory and proprioceptive control
• Through a patient demonstration, an opportunity to analyse the patients posture and movement and compare it with that studies so far.
